LMNO
Artist Bio
LMNO
Hailing from Long Beach, California, LMNO has emerged as one of the most prolific artists in music today. Introduced to hip-hop in the early ‘80s, LMNO was a firsthand witness to the N.W.A legacy and birth of west coast hip-hop. Appearing in the D.O.C.'s "Formula" video with Dr. Dre & Eazy E, LMNO got his first taste of the music industry in 1989. His career took off with work on various projects, including his debut on the Circle of Power (of Blak Forest) album and infamous feature on Key-Kool & Rhettmatic's "E=MC5," a posse cut also featuring Ras Kass, Voodu, & Mean Green.

With Visionaries, one of L.A.’s most prominent underground groups, LMNO began honing his craft. Lending his voice and views on Visionaries’ four albums, he has become a lyricist to be reckoned with. LMNO’s solo efforts gave his audiences further insight to his witty, spiritual style. His debut solo album Leave My Name Out (Battle Axe) includes popular singles, “Grin and Bear It” and the brilliant LMNO/Madlib (of LootPack/Quasimoto) team-up "Head Locked" which brought LMNO's name to the forefront of hip-hop heads worldwide and had the underground buzzing for more.

Throughout his career as a solo artist and a Visionaries member, LMNO has worked with the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, J.Rocc, OhNo, Jay Dee, Evidence, DJ Khalil, Babu, DJ Rhettmatic, and KeyKool. The critically acclaimed LMNO & Kev Brown project Selective Hearing (Up Above) was a near perfect pairing of LMNO’s conscious lyrics and vintage Kev Brown production, earning the duo early Grammy nods in 2008.

Currently, LMNO is fresh off the release of his latest solo project, “Devilish Dandruff With Holy Shampoo” (Up Above) and is preparing for a groundbreaking, epic year as LMNO will release 10 new albums in 2010. With a high standard for superb production, each album will be in collaboration with a different artist and/or producer. Staying true to his roots and his eye on the prize, 2010 promises to be LMNO’s most accomplished year in his career.

LMNO’s “Boom It,” produced by LD (Technicali) is the first single from his latest full-length album, “Work Ethic”. The 12-inch single, which is available now, has been blessed with artwork from original NASA and CA crew member Rich One.

Along with his wildly ingenious Graffiti pieces and characters (as seen on the “Boom It” cover), Rich One has designed for numerous large corporate entities until he and his friends decided to form the rising shoe company Creative Recreation

Rich One has been a huge part of the Up Above family creating the first ever Up Above cover as well as the Visionaries Eyecon that we all know and love.

Other Up Above artwork done by Rich One include the timeless "Can U Hear It" 12-inch vinyl by KeyKool & Rhettmatic, Visionaries "Galleries" and "Sophomore Jinx" album artwork, and numerous covers and designs for Kozmonautz, Beat Junkies, Visionaries, LMNO, Writer’s Block and much more.

LMNO & KEV BROWN releasing a music video for their first single "Who's That?" off their new album "Selective Hearing (The Beat Tape)" coming out March 25, 2008 on Up Above Records.

Directed and edited by KeyKool (co-direction by LMNO), the video takes the viewer through a day in the life of LMNO: Getting a beat tape (from KEV BROWN), writing to the beat tape, heading to the studio to record the track (w/ LD on the scratches), and finally, sharing the track with the world!

Be on the lookout for the limited "Who's That?" 12-inch vinyl single.
